Insulation Lambton
Roof, wall and underfloor insulation for Lambton's cottages and Federation homes, including removal of old material that has stopped doing its job.
Across Lambton Homes...
Lambton has been a residential suburb since the 1860s, and plenty of its roof cavities have been through several owners and several rounds of insulation. What is up there is often patchy, compacted or well past useful, which is why the house never quite holds its temperature.
Bringing Year-Round Comfort To Lambton's Older Homes
Lambton grew as a coal-mining township and became a municipality in 1871. The housing that came with it, timber workers’ cottages, Federation and Edwardian homes on flat, walkable streets, is exactly the stock that responds best to insulation work, because most of it was built long before insulation was standard.
That means what we find in the roof varies enormously from house to house. Some cavities have nothing. Some have a thin layer of old fibreglass that has flattened out over decades. Some have material that rodents have been through, or two or three layers put in at different times by different people. Topping straight over that does not fix it.
Lambton’s walls and floors matter as much as the ceiling. Timber-framed and weatherboard homes can have their wall cavities pump-filled through small cored holes in the lining, and most homes of this era sit on piers with an accessible subfloor, so the floor can be insulated from underneath as well.
The work is done room by room without a renovation. That retrofit and removal work in older NSW housing is what 4 Seasons has specialised in since 1993.

4 Reasons Lambton Homeowners Work With Us

1
We Take The Old Insulation Out Properly
Where the existing material is degraded, contaminated or beyond a top-up, we vacuum it out and dispose of it rather than burying it under something new. You get a clean cavity to start from.

2
Our Installers Are On Our Payroll
The crew in your roof is employed by 4 Seasons, not booked through a job board. The business that quoted the work is the one accountable for how it is finished and how your house is left.

3
We Make Woolcell And Insulbloc Ourselves
Both products are manufactured by us in NSW and certified Australian Made. Woolcell carries a lifetime warranty for the life of the structure, and you are dealing with the manufacturer rather than a supplier’s warranty desk.

4
We Tell You What The Roof Actually Needs
Sometimes that is a full removal and reinstall. Sometimes it is a straightforward top-up to TR 4.1, the rating recommended for NSW and ACT homes. We inspect the cavity and quote to what is there, and we will say when spending more will not make the house any more comfortable.

Insulation Options
For Lambton Properties
Lambton runs from timber cottages and Federation homes through post-war brick to recent rebuilds, and each one needs a different approach. Roof access, wall framing, whether there is a subfloor, and what insulation is already in place all change the answer.
Start Where The Heat Moves Most
The roof cavity comes first, because that is where the biggest gains and losses happen, and in Lambton the question is usually whether the existing material stays or goes. From there, uninsulated wall cavities and an open subfloor are the two reasons an older cottage feels cold no matter how long the heater runs. A free measure and quote settles all of it before you spend anything.

Questions, Answered
Not always. If the existing material is clean, dry and evenly spread, a top-up over the top is the cheaper and better option. It needs to come out when it is contaminated, water damaged, rodent affected or so compacted that it is no longer performing. We look in the cavity during the free quote and tell you which situation you are in.
Yes. Insulbloc is pumped into the wall cavity through small cored holes in the lining, which are then patched. You do not need to remove the weatherboards or the internal plaster. We check the framing and cavity depth on site first, because not every wall can be filled.
Usually, yes. An open subfloor is a constant source of heat loss in winter, and it is one of the most noticeable improvements in an older timber-floored cottage. It also helps with noise. Access under the house determines what is possible, so we check it at the quote.
We do not disturb material we suspect may contain asbestos. If we see something in the cavity that needs assessing, we stop, tell you, and recommend you get a licensed assessor in before any insulation work goes ahead. Older Newcastle roof spaces do occasionally throw this up and it is not something to guess at.
The crew works off the ceiling joists rather than the ceiling lining itself, which is how older lath and plaster and early plasterboard ceilings are protected. If you have a ceiling you are worried about, or restricted manhole access, raise it at the quote so it can be planned around.
Yes. 4 Seasons installs insulation across Lambton and the neighbouring suburbs, including North Lambton, New Lambton, Jesmond, Waratah, Georgetown and Broadmeadow. The business has been installing insulation in NSW homes since 1993.
