Top-Up Insulation
Upgrade your home’s insulation without a full replacement.

It's time to improve the efficiency of your home
Make considerable savings on your insulation solution
It’s important to periodically assess if you have enough home insulation and if it’s still being effective:
- Have you noticed your energy bills going up?
- Are you finding it difficult to maintain temperatures in your home?
- Was your home built pre-2000?
If you answered yes to any of the above, your home insulation might need a top up.

A top up is a very cost effective way to improve the efficiency of your home, as we can simply add to what you already have without the need to completely remove all your insulation and replace it.
We advise home owners, designers and builders on the best approach for any property they’re looking to improve.
4 Big Benefits of 4 Seasons Top Up Insulation
Using only the highest rated insulation materials, you can enjoy the following advantages when topping up your insulation with us:

1
Make considerable savings
The process of removing all your insulation and replacing it can be costly, so wherever possible we will top up what you already have. Our pump-in products make this simple, because we can easily fill gaps and smooth varying heights, meaning your insulation will be instantly effective.

2
Savings on your energy bills
Effective insulation increases the thermal efficiency of your home, so you can maintain desired temperatures more naturally without needing to run your air conditioners and heaters as regularly. As well as making your home more comfortable, this means you can make savings on your energy bills, and quickly recoup your investment for the insulation top up.

3
Environmentally sustainable
The reduced running of air conditioners and heaters means less energy is being used, which therefore has a positive impact on the environment by reducing energy demand and emissions. So you can save money and the planet all at the same time!

4
Workmanship guarantee
All our top ups come with a workmanship guarantee. Our professional and trained staff will take every step to ensure you’re happy, the work is done to a high standard and the insulation is working as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Installation Solutions
in simple terms
At 4 Seasons our preferred products for insulation top up are Woolcell or Cellulose Fibre Pump-In Products.
They’re perfect for topping up older insulation materials, because they provide close to 100% coverage and eliminate air pockets (thermal bridging) that may happen when topping up with batts on top of batts.
Of course, 4 Seasons can advise on any method. We are only interested in making sure you get the solution that is right for you, which we will advise you on during your free measure and quote.

Woolcell insulation is a leading insulation product that is environmentally friendly, user friendly and comes with a lifetime warranty:
- Woolcell is a premium pump-in roof insulation product, designed and manufactured in Australia. Woolcell is environmentally and user friendly, using Australian wool, recycled paper, Borax and Boric acid (both of which are naturally occurring salts)
- Woolcell gives you 100% coverage. It is fire retardant (acting as a fire blanket), vermin resistant, and reduces mould (perfect for those with asthma and allergies).
- Woolcell is a combination of wool and mulched newspaper. Wool has been added for the purpose of keeping the product lightweight and ensuring it keeps its “loft” over the lifetime of the structure of the home. It also makes it a “Breathable” product which minimises mould and mildew in the home
Woolcell home insulation was even awarded a National Wool Invention Competition ‘Prize of Distinction’ and is CSIRO-tested for conformance to industry standards.
FAQs on Insulation Top Up
How do I know if I need to top up my insulation?
- If you’re willing and able, you can take a look in your roof to see if your insulation has gaps, is at different heights and/or is worn out. If you see any of these issues, you may need a top up.
The best option however is to get one of our experts to come out and give you a free assessment and quote. That way we can give you our expert advice and find a solution that suits you best. To book this in, simply give us a call: 1300 331 336
Can I top up the insulation myself?
It may be possible, however we don’t recommend it. The first obvious issue is that a lack of experience climbing around in roof space can increase your risk of injury. Also, while doing it yourself can save money in the short-term it often costs more in the long-run, due to:
- Sub-optimal coverage, meaning you’ll have to pay for a professional to come in and sort it out
- Sub-optimal efficiency, meaning you’ll still be spending more than you need to on your energy bills
An insulation specialist knows how to optimise the insulation to ensure full coverage, and therefore full efficiency.
My house was built before 2000, do I need to top up my insulation?
- Homes built pre-2000 usually need insulation repair, top-up or removal and reinstallation.
Homeowners with older, poorly installed insulation, and often inferior products, are getting no benefits at all. These older insulation materials may not meet current standards covering the insulation industry, which specify the R-Value requirements in your climate zone. You’ll be amazed by what a difference it makes.
Do you offer warranties or guarantees on your insulation top ups?
Yes! We offer a workmanship guarantee; ensuring you’re happy, the work is done to a high standard and the insulation is working as efficiently and effectively as possible.
There is also a warranty on all our products (note: this doesn’t cover the existing product that will remain underneath the top up).

How Do We Install Wall Insulation?

Brick Veneer Wall Insulation
Brick veneer walls (“brick skin” on the outside) are not ideal for thermal mass or efficiency. They get hot in summer and continue to radiate heat late into the evening. During winter, external bricks stay cold and soak up valuable heat from your house. One of the greatest benefits of wall insulation is to protect you from the temperature extremes heightened by brick veneer housing.
Reverse brick veneer in comparison is more thermally efficient, as the thermal mass is internal. Despite this, good insulation is still vital when maintaining an optimum temperature inside the home.
How is Brick Veneer Wall Insulation installed?
Insulation is pumped down into the wall cavity via the property’s roof, filling up the width of the wall frame. Where there are windows, we remove the brick and pump under the window to fill this gap, and once complete the bricks are carefully re-mortared into their original position.

Timber Framed Wall Insulation
Timber framed walls are a low mass construction. This means they will rely entirely on insulation to maintain thermal mass and attain optimal comfort for the home. Nearly all homes in Australia use plasterboard as a lining for interior walls, so we can also insulate existing gyprock walls too.
How is Timber Framed Wall Insulation installed?
We don’t recommend removing existing gyprock, as it can be costly to the homeowner. Instead, we carefully core holes into gyprock material and pump the insulation into the voids between studs and noggings, filling the wall cavity. This can be labour intensive, but the process will give you a higher than standard R-rating.
Cavity fill methods available for walls:
- Polystyrene balls (if lining or cladding not removed)
- Mineral fibres (if lining or cladding not removed)
- Bulk batts
- Concertina foil batts
- Multi-cell foil batts
